Derek Nash's GMF Nomination

Derek has been nominated in the jazz instrumentalist category for the Global Music Foundation London Awards and the result will be announced on August 16th at the Pizza Express Jazz Club. A great review of Derek's latest CD Snapshot appeared in Jazz UK Magazine this month. Brian Blain states "This selection of themes, realised by a dream team rhythm section defines what a great, satisfying chunk of the language of jazz still sounds like. Nash is involved in so many musical situations that it is easy to forget what a fine multi-saxophonist he is"

Trudy Kerr releases new CD ‘Reunion’
Trudy teams up with her long-time friend, the Australian jazz chanteuse, Ingrid James. Between them, they deliver an eclectic selection of jazz, latin and folk songs by composers such as Chick Corea, Bob Dorough, Baden Powell and Carole King. Supported by Tom Cawley (piano), Geoff Gascoyne (bass) and Seb de Krom (drums), Trudy and Ingrid laid down the albumʼs thirteen tracks at the Clowns Pocket Studios in Kent. Song titles include a swinging version of ʻThis Could Be the Start of Something Bigʼ inspired by Jon Hendricks; ʻDancing on the Ceilingʼ with a vocalese penned by Georgie Fame; ʻCry No Moreʼ by Baden Powell and ʻSoft Shoeʼ based on the original Gerry Mulligan Quartet arrangement. Trudy and Ingrid provided the words for the vocalese on ʻSoft Shoeʼ and the complete lyrics for Bud Powellʼs ʻA Little Crazyʼ aka Un Poco Loco.
